Foley v. Connelie

Decision

The U.S. Supreme Court affirmed the decision of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York by ruling that excluding aliens from working in the state police was constitutional. The Court held that the New York State statute did not violate the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. According to that statute, no person could participate in activities or proceedings conducted by police officers unless s/he was a citizen of the United States.
