STATUTORY COMPILATIONS USED IN THIS BOOK

The code section numbers used in this book refer to sections within the statutory compilations listed below. In those states where multiple compilations are available, the one preferred by The Blue Book, A Uniform System of Citation, 17th ed., 2000 (Harvard Law Review Association: Cambridge, Mass.) is used. Occasionally the preferred code was not available; every effort, however, was then made to verify the accuracy of the citations and/or convert section numbers to the preferred system.

Some states do not use a universal system of numeration but separately number individually named codes. For these states the individual code names and the abbreviations used in the book are listed.
